EMPTY PROMISES AND SWAPO's "WINNING" STREAK

Let’s talk Namibian politics, shall we? It’s like dating a guy who promises you the world when he’s begging for your attention, but once he’s got what he wants, poof—those promises vanish faster than your self-respect. You think I’m talking about your average player? Nope. I’m talking about SWAPO. Yeah, they won the 2024 elections. But let's not pretend it was smooth sailing. There were challenges everywhere: questionable election processes, leaks, and unprecedented drama. Talk about a messy, but oh-so-predictable, victory.

It’s the same story as always. If you’re going to get involved in anything transactional—whether it’s politics or personal dealings—make sure you know the terms before things get messy. SWAPO securing those votes was like a man getting what he wanted after a night of promises. But once they’ve won, what happens? Their perspective changes. No one’s keeping those sweet promises anymore. They’ve got the power now, so who cares about what they said before? Spoiler alert: they don’t.

And let’s bring this back to relationships, because honestly, it’s the same thing. Women with a “history” and high expectations? Same deal as a politician's empty promises. Men, don’t just throw your hard-earned cash around without checking if the goods are really worth the price. A woman with a high body count? Yeah, don’t be paying top dollar for what’s been around the block. Evaluate before you decide to drop the full value of your ‘oil well.’ And when that oil’s all gone? Well, you better believe you should get paid for your labor.

So, whether it's SWAPO playing the game with their "election victory" or someone making promises in the heat of the moment, if terms weren’t set in advance, don’t expect anyone to honor them. You’re on your own, my friend. Next time, put it in writing.
